Sopley Mill Wedding ~ Lucy and Alex
Lucy and Alex had the perfect late summer wedding at Sopley Mill in September last year. The 18th century watermill basked in the sunshine all day, allowing the wedding party to make the most of the scenic terrace and gardens, as well as the historic mill itself.
Lucy is a librarian and wanted her love of books to shine through on the day. She spent hours crafting paper hearts out of pages of books and collected vintage books for the tables, which were all named after classics. She also made the best garden games for the guests to enjoy on the lawn. Having put so many hours into the details of the day, Lucy wanted to make sure she had someone on board to bring it all together and that’s where we stepped in. Having worked at Sopley Mill a number of times (and been a bridesmaid there 20 years ago!), I know the venue well and was not only able to assist them on the wedding day but help guide them on various aspects of the day including logistics and timings, one of the most challenging aspects being that the mill is spread out over three floors.
Lucy and Alex are such a lovely couple so it was no surprise that that their families were so lovely to be around. Lucy is from Slovakia so she had many Slovakian guests who were made to feel at home with little touches such as the Slovak toast, evening food and wedding cake.
Thank you Lucy and Alex for entrusting us to bring your wedding day story together. Without further ado, I leave you with these images which give a flavour of their day…
